Questions

What is a zero-click search?

A zero-click search is a query where the user reads the answer on the search results page or inside an AI chat window and leaves without clicking through to a website. On Google, SparkToro found in June 2026 that 68.01% of searches from January to April 2026 ended this way.

How do click rates compare with and without AI summaries?

Pew Research reported in July 2025 that Google users clicked a traditional search result on 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, compared to 15% without one. Links inside the AI summary itself were clicked on 1% of visits.

Does blocking GPTBot stop my site from appearing in ChatGPT search?

No, GPTBot is OpenAI's training crawler; blocking it does not remove a site from ChatGPT search. ChatGPT search uses OAI-SearchBot to index the web for search and ChatGPT-User to fetch pages when users ask questions.

Which pages on a business website does ChatGPT cite most often?

In FoundByChat's October 2026 study of 4,203 retrieved search results across 211 ChatGPT answers, vendor pricing pages had a 51.2% citation rate, followed by vendor product pages at 28.4% and docs or help pages at 23.0%. Across all page types, a company's own site was cited 20.1% of the time when retrieved, versus 3.9% for third-party pages about it.
